As part of the 25th NTC and Trade Exhibit, the City Government of General Santos formally turned over VMS to the FFSAPI-SARGEN Handline Fisheries Improvement Project and the United Tuna Handliners Association.
On August 13, 2025 – Key stakeholders in the Philippines’ yellowfin and bigeye tuna handline fishery convened at The Village Events Place, General Santos City for the Fisher Awareness of Rights ‘Train the Trainer’ Workshop.
In line with efforts to enhance safety and efficiency during nighttime fishing operations, Key Traceability has distributed headlamps to participants of the FIP in the yellowfin and bigeye tuna handline sector.
The two-day consultation workshop, held at Sun City Suites, General Santos City on June 19–20, 2025, brought together vessel owners, company representatives, and key stakeholders in the tuna handline sector for an in-depth discussion on improving labor practices at sea.
The ceremonial signing of the HRSR Policies, Grievance Mechanism, and Age Verification Process of the SARGEN Fish Port Tuna Handline Fishing Association Inc. and its members marked a significant milestone in institutionalizing social responsibility within the local tuna handline sector.
